It's STILL a ridiculously stupid idea and WAY more than the majority of this country is willing to tolerate from this administration. Which is the only thing that matters.
My message to the President....so instead of throwing wild ass ideas up against the wall to see if they stick.......try to focus on working on the more urgent matters on your desk...like coming through on just one of your campaign promises....you know...transparency, cutting government beauracracy, creating jobs, etc, etc.
If you were even infintesimally successful on a few of those, perhaps folks would trust you more.
The attacks against him are comical at this point. All the fears of socialism indoctrination fell flat on their face, political coercion fears are unfounded, so whats left? Too boring? Too Wild ass??
All he said it what any parent out there has told their kids, and hope a little of it gets through. Quit making excuses, keep trying, don't give up. Do people hate and fear Obama so much that they have to attack that simple message? As for "focusing on more urgent matters" did anyone bother with that advice as Bush was reading picture books to kids when we were under attack? Come on, get real. Taking a few hours to speak to kids, the future of our country, and maybe, just maybe inspire ONE kid to do better is so wrong? Now I completely understand the right wing, and am glad I no longer belong to the party of negativism, character smearing, and contrarianism.
This type of attack, along with the "death panelers" really undermines credibility. If, on rare occasion, righties could bring themselves to say he did something right for a change, I would be more likely to listen to the criticism. But when the discourse becomes name calling, and blind attacks of EVERYTHING he does, it just becomes static. This speech was an excellent opportunity to show that they judge issues on merit, not strictly on the lead of the right wing media (Rush, Hannity, Malkin, Coulter, Savage, Ingrham.....)
Ask youself, if Bush gave that same exact speech, would you be so indignant? Would it be so "wild ass"?
So, out of curiosity, if the presidents before him did this, where is the change?

It was never about the speech. If they just would have said the President is going to talk to school kids about the importance of a good education nobody would have given it a second thought.
What WHO said? Rush, Hannity, Beck? I've asked several times for references as to the socialist indoctrination, and other claims I've heard on this list and conservative radio. Nobody has produced the pre-edited speech, or now these claims. For the third time, I'm not trying to call a bluff, but if these claims are true, I'd like to see them so I can adjust accordingly. Like I said before, if I don't see any credible sources, this get tossed on the growing pile of fear mongering claims by the far right.
