Sorry. I grew up in texas, and its taken me almost 20 years to learn proper english again! ;-)

"Fixin ta" is not just a Texas thang.

I grew up in MO....We was always "fixin' ta" do sumpin'.

Now, in WI, it's "fixin ta'....ya hey dare!!"

I still say "fixin' ta" in Pa, and nobody seems to notice. I think its a universal thang nowadays. One thing I hear in Pittsburgh and nowhere else is, "redd up". As in get ready for something.

"got company coming...gotta redd up the place"
