Very sorry to hear about your dog, that is sad and scary. I hope you can find some financial help. If there are humane societies in your area, sometimes, they may have programs or even vets that offer reduced prices, or vets that will work with you on a payment plan. I know it is hard to think when you are stressed and worried. Possibly some friend or relative could look into alternatives for you. I hope your dog makes it and you both have many years of hunting in the future.
Prayers sent . Please everybody put a lock on your gates to many dogs are getting away or in states like ours are being stolen.
Prayers sent hope you can find a way to make it happen.
Prayers sent...there's just nothing worse than having a dog hit by a car. Ask your vet's office about financing, most vets no longer do payment plans but they have arrangements with finance companies that can loan you the money. And if you have a credit card, that's what they're for.....who cares if you have to stay home weekend nights for a year, give up spending $ at bars, restaurants, etc., 5 yrs. later you won't remember the things you sacrificed, but you will remember your best friend.
Prayers sent Brother... Very sound advice from Julie R....

Prayers sent your way! I agree with Julie R! 6 years ago my younger sister let my dog out and didn't get her hooked up, she bolted across the road and was hit as well. Took her to the vet and she needed a great deal of surgery. I told the vet to do whatever she needed and I would find a way. I was unemployed at the time but they had no problem setting up payment plans. I never regret it and would sacrifice my "extras" for her again in a heartbeat. Good luck and keep us updated!
Prayer offered up for you and for your dog. May God help you find a way to get this done, and may He heal your buddy completely. I had a setter I lost to cancer in 2006. The vet bill was about $1600 for the surgery, best as I can remember. I lost my dog and was out alot of money, and I tell you right now, I would make payments for a long, long time if I could have my Susie back.
Surgery is just too expensive. From what my vet told me he recommended was a specialist and he said that bill would run atleast $3000. He said if he would do it he would charge minumum of $1200 but he's done very few of them and none have been recent. He was very honest and said he wouldn't be comfortable doing it and he couldn't even gaurantee he could bring Spook back to decent health for just a pet. I have the x-rays and him looking around. I'll attach the x-ray below. If anyone has had any experience with this it would be much appreciated.
