Biden must've given BHO lessons on how to act smug & sanctimonious. But like the 2nd debate, I doubt this one changed anyone's mind; just solidified the support each already had.
Except it was not Romney who was lying. He was absolutely correct about his prior and present position on the GM bailout. He was also correct about the status of troops in Iraq ... that was in the headlines when it was refused (it hinged, supposedly, on the refusal of Iraq to give US troops immunity for defending themselves).Quote:

I do think that there is truth in peace through strength. I do think that Reagan was able to get concession from Korbachev because of Reagan's resolve to have strength that K felt was overwhelming. Every aggressive power in history has become more aggressive when in the face of weakness and backed off from strength.
Whatever the details, the withdrawal from Iraq has been chaotic and destructive. Afghanistan is not going much better. I think more could have been made of the fact that Obama's policies toward Egypt and Libya did not result in favorable outcomes for peace in the region. Romney touched on that.
I do believe that Romney's long-standing friendship with Netanyahu would mean a stronger bond with Israel. I very much liked his response to the question, "What if you got a phone call from Israel, saying they had just launched against Iran?" Romney was credible in saying, "It would never come down to a phone call like that." VERY good response in my way of thinking. Very realistic response.
Perhaps good strategy to let the 9/11 tragedy not focus the whole debate? There's a lot of stuff in the media about that allows no real response from the WH ... and is not favorable to Obama's competency.
I think it was about a draw on the debate, with some advantage overall to Obama (especially if you didn't catch to the misstatements of facts). A few one-liners from Obama, a lot of boiler-plate rhetoric that makes a good "speech". Some good responses that were quietly made by Romney (though the backbone response about Putin was a strong one).
The question would be whether Obama's performance was strong enough to be a game-changer; enough to alter the momentum of Romney's trending upward. I'm thinking it was not.

Great point! And, no it has not. What usually happens is that those arms are eventually used against us. I was hoping for a debate and what we saw was them agreeing on many points with an occassional snipe at one another. They would both like to continue with a dysfunctional Foreign Policy.Quote:
