thoughts on box Idea.

As I sit here patiently awaiting my new double deluxe from Ainley, I came up with an idea in my head. Thought I would put it on here and see what some of you thought. I was thinking some kind of rail system that would allow the box to slide from front of bed to rear of bed and be locked down in each location might be kinda nice. During training you could lock it down in front of bed and leave back of bed open for hauling "stuff". And when you are going to whatever venue it is you might be running you could easily slide it to the rear for easier access to the doors. Just an idea that popped into my head. I think once I get my box a trip to my neighbors fab shop might be in order. Lots of time to ponder, delivery is set for may.

Sounds good on the surface. Why not run it by the folks at Ainley?? After all they are building the box. I would rather have them design something and "build it in" as opposed to having someone fab something after the fact.

Very good thought. I actually was thinking of running it by them as well. Just thought I would throw a little buisness my neighbors way. He does awesome work. Would of had him build me a box but he is not geared toward that.

Are the doors hard to reach? i'm a pretty tall fella, and don't own a dog box. Just curious. If they are hard to reach, the redneck in me says to just use a stick with a hook or put some sort of bungee on it.

I think its a GREAT idea! I am only 5'2" and dealing with the doors to the dog box on our big, tall, long chevy truck is a nightmare for me. Especially when trying to train a wild and wooly youngster. How can I correct him for charging the door when I can't even reach it? Yes, Tn Lab, I keep a hook handy for retrieving the door once its gotten away from me, but that doesn't help when you need to grab it RIGHT NOW! We are thinking about taking the box off for the winter, and maybe when we put it back in spring we will try to come up with something like that. Thanks for posting!

My thought was to use a track and roller system like garage doors operate on ,but heavy gauge material,and also install heavy spring loaded pins that will lock into predetermined holes instead of bolts to deal with.
This idea has crossed my mind to.

look at a "bedslide". May be what you need. This is what I use for my dog boxes and Tools for my construction company> Nice units.
