Use of IPad in judging

A very accomplished field trialer has used the IPad as their judging book. They take a picture of the setup, draw the ideal lines, then trace each dog's work. They have successfully done this several times. Have any of you on any other circuit seen this use of an IPad for judging?

thought about doing it for some HT assignments this year. But HRC requires you keep the printed sheets for a year- so that's out. Not sure about AKC reuirements on keeping the sheets.

Sounds intriguing, although it might be tough on a sunny day. What app do they use?

They are everywhere now - doctors are using them, business, construction, you name it!

And how long do the batteries last, what type of battery for backup power, what happens if IPad crashes, can you recover the data entered? It is an intriguing idea, perhaps Laura could post here and answer some questions.

iPad's would be virtually impossible to use during a very sunny day.

While the Ipad seems intriguing, for this application, it seems like there are a few potential glitches. Screen brightness. Inability perhaps to easily toggle from one dog to another and lay their performances side by side on a big table. Rain/weather issues. Battery power....etc.

I'd love to see someone use one to see how it's done.

To me, this seems like old fashioned paper may continue to serve its purpose for judging for many...
