My vet also does the vaccination every 3 years. Recommends lepto, lymes, bordatella yearly.
I've gone to 3 years for rabies and distemper/parvo, for adults, after they've had their complete puppy series. I do bordetella for dogs going off to trainers. I don't do Lyme. I do lepto (4 strain) annually.
Happy New Year Ann,
My vet held off on 3 year for quite some time waiting to see some longer term data and effects. Her biggest concern was effectiveness into the 3rd year and dogs in situations where exposure was more likly ( hunting, other dogs ). She went to 3 year for all dogs 2 years ago. I like the $$$$$ saved.
Been doing the 3 year DA2PP for several years now up here, as well as the 3 year rabies and have had no issues.
For our older dogs (2 years old and up), my vet recommends every 2 years or have a titer done. Her reasoning is that my dogs are exposed to so many different dogs coming in to the kennel for training as well as traveling to so many other areas. Rabies for adult dogs is every 3 years; Bordatella is every 6 months intranasal.
