This was noted in a post on American Thinker ... the gist of the posting was that by 2016 smaller paychecks, more regulations, etc. will be a factor in judging the success of D policies
Looking at Hillary now, it doesn't seem like she will be more photogenic at 69. And who else do the Ds have? I don't think Joe Biden will look that great to the Ds either. MSM may be able to work with BHO's silver tongue, but that is not a gift of Ole Joe.Quote:

So, it's kind of interesting to think that the probable R candidate will be a younger person, and would appear more "energized" to lead than what the D landscape looks like now. Of course, Obama, came out of nowhere in 4 years ... but doesn't seem to be a common occurrence.
When you look at the younger Rs like Rand Paul, Rubio, Cruz, Jindal, Ryan, Walker, etc. (I don't count Christie, since I wouldn't be surprised if he was a D by 2016 ... he keeps looking more like one each day; and if he likes power & aspires to a nomnation, he'd not have a great chance against the ample list above. Remembering also, that Christie wants more gun control.)

I just posted a Chris Wallace from Fox News interview from this monring with Rand. Rand suggest it is time for the Repubs to embrace the Libertarian voices.
I'm not convinced that the Repub Party can be reformed and that the brand may be too broken to fix. Just too many that are owned by Special Interest as well as some politicians just can't handle not being a part of big spending intrusive government. Right now, both the Repubs and Dems are anti-Liberty. Dems are owned by Socialist and the Repubs by military contractors, just to name two.
It would be best for the Libertarian party to contine to support our candidates in state and national elections, talking about their vision and if there are Dems and Repubs that are willing to embrace Liberty, then they can join us.

The current effort is getting state Libertarians elected and getting on the Presidential ballot in all 50 states. Right now we are on 30. This will go along way in giving us a voice in the debates.
But, I know what your are trying to get at. You love the status quo, therefore you attempt to knock down anyone trying to reform the system. You were a big supported here on RTF of Paul Ryan and his proposal to grow the deficit by 6 TRILLION over the next few years. Well, the GOP is done, fini. They and you just don't know it yet.
It may take a landslide Democratic victory in the 2016 Presidential election before the people realize that the Repub Party in broken beyond repair!
No matter what the Repub politicians call themselves, the only real Conservatives are Libertarian!

One of the Libertarian Party's goals at this year's Students for Liberty conference was to help students tell the difference between real liberty groups and false fronts whose goal is to trick libertarians into voting for statist candidates.
It turned out that was completely unnecessary. They already knew as much as we did on the topic, if not more.
Some pointed out that when the National Rifle Association endorsed Mitt Romney, the NRA basically told every Republican governor in the country that they could pass "assault" weapons bans, and still count on an NRA endorsement if they ran for president.
