Thank you, Judy!!!!! It was very educational to say the least!
During the first series of the Amateur stake, Hubby said "Are you scared, yet?" :)
Had to remind him of a little book called "The Little Engine that Could":D

Hey Jen,
You will be nervous but,,,,,,I've found these words to live by....don't let them scare you :)

Good advice, Randy! Hopefully I'll remember to wear deodorant, too!
Really, though, one of the neatest parts of hanging around the Amateur stake, was seeing some of the handlers return to the gallery after running a dog that didn't do so great and hearing them joke and making light of it. As if, it really isn't all about winning, it's about the process, the test, the company, and the chance to go back to the training field and see what you can do better! No better way to be put at ease than to see the seasoned folks act like that. Really neat!
Jen
I'm glad you enjoyed hanging around the gallery. For the most part FT people are quite welcoming to newcomers, but please don't think for a minute that winning or placing isn't, maybe not everything, but it is a big deal to them. It is just a fact that if you run field trials, placing and finishing is relatively rare and there is no shame in failing a test on any given weekend, after all they are just dogs...
