Swim-by videos
Here's a video of Roxi's swim-by last year. If I remember correctly, the steps and days were as follows:
Day 1: Line to pile
Day 2: Line to pile
Day 3: Force to pile
Day 4: Force to pile
Day 5: Stop to pile
Day 6: Teach right over and left exit
Day 7: Enforce left exit and teach left over/right exit
Day 8: Enforce both left/right exits
Day 9: Used new pond and enforced both left/right exit
Day 10: Used 3rd pond to solidify concept
If you're new to the swim-by, the timeline is similar to other concepts. There is no time frame, it takes as long as it takes. Read your dog and move forward accordingly. For example, on day 5 she reacted well to the whistle so I didn't spend much time with it, and moved on to day 6. Here's day 2 and day 7 on video...

Willie, Willie! I know where you are! Did my swim by with the chessie in the same spot a few years ago. No video but lots of pics on my website! What a great place for it, and some damn fine advice and help available if you need it;)

Nicely done. Looks great.

Those looked like some very well-done training sessions. What a happy, energetic, responsive dog.
Nice!

Good job! Definitely likes the water.

Ok I'm new to the concept of swim by. Looks like a modified water force drill to me.
What is the purpose and what are you trying to install in the dog having them exit to the left or right and run
the bank.

Great videos! Big thank you for taking the time and effort to film and post!

I wish that pond looked like that today. At least it's not completely covered with ice and snow like it was a few weeks ago but it did thaw out. Worf was in it today just to do a quick temp. check. He says it's still a bit cold to do swim-by. Can't wait for spring. Willie does a nice job with his dogs.
