VICTORIES OF NOTE: Grade 2 UAE Derby
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: The latest to try the mile and three-sixteenths UAE Derby to the Kentucky Derby — though no UAE horses have ever hit the board in the Kentucky Derby. Moore is Britain’s three-time riding champ. Colt has yet to run on dirt and no horse since 1937 has won the Kentucky Derby after just one start at 3.
CAN WIN BECAUSE: He will be ridden by one of England’s best and has already handled nearly this same distance in winning the UAE Derby.
CAN’T WIN BECAUSE: Horses coming out of the UAE Derby, regardless of their connections, never fire in the Kentucky Derby.
I think this is the horse roadkill is talking about; it's not owned by one of the sheiks. Doesn't seem a very traditional path for a Derby winner.
seriously...its one of the most balanced fields to come along in quite awhile..there are at least 4 horses in the field that could dominate the race, 10 that have a legit shot at winning it...no offense RK but your friend doesnt know what he is talking about or doesnt follow horse racing closely
Now they're saying 90% chance of rain in Kentucky...and lots of it. Could change things and allow a longshot to sneak in. Dreaming of Julia never fired in the Oaks, last year's champion Beholder was 2nd; anyone who had money on the longshot that won did well.
Tough field to choose from but I'm going with....
This looked like a great photo and quote for Derby Day. Could apply to the dogs as well.
