Eating raw whole fish
Had Trap out at the lake for several days, and he had a ball with bluegills.
Would stun them and he learned to hold his breathe and go under after them.
This is until I turned around and saw him chewing the head off one and swallowing it.
Any problems with this or eating a whole one?
Source of fish oil?
Been stuck by many a bream aka bluegill , when caught or about to be eaten by a larger fish like a bass or striper they will flare their dorsal fin and make themselves a bigger mouthful hoping for the predator to spit them out, it may seem harmless but you don't want the dog to get into that habit because if he ever tries a small catfish or bullhead their spine will injure for sure
Once they get the hang of fishing and eating it they never forget. Since I live near the ocean they love to catch snappers and eat them immediately. The good thing is they are unsuccessful most of the time. But when they see the bunkers feeding they know and start following. They have never gotten bitten by blue fish but it is hard to call them back.
I have a jack russell that eats ballyhoo whole. Sometimes he ingests 4 or more at a time. I have to keep an eye on him to prevent this, but it's never hurt him. One day he ate the head off a schooly dolphin that he drug away from my boat. He's still kicking around at age 13.
You could feed a small country with the amount of fish my old dog has eaten in her life.
