Mary Howley has not been inducted into the RHOF at Grand Junction, TE.
This oversight to many of us needs to be addressed by the retriever
community and corrected in Mary's lifetime.
A long time active member of the Madison Retriever Club dating back to the
late 1950's, Mary has been a trainer, handler, judge and breeder of retrievers
for over Fifty Years.
Candlewood Kennels has become an icon of the retriever world because of Mary
Howley's devotion to the details of the sport in all areas; specifically observing
and documenting the qualities and capabilities of Labrador Retrievers.
Six Candlewood bred dogs reflect eleven national championships:
Candlewoods Bit of Bunny (2), Candlewoods Ramblin Man (2), Candlewoods
Rasa Ruckus (1), Candlewoods Something Royal (1), Candlewoods Super
Tanker (2), Candlewoods Tanks A Lot (3).
Five Candlewood bred dogs are presently inducted into the RHOF:
Candlewoods Bit of Bunny, Candlewoods Mad Mouse, Candlewoods M.D. Houston,
Candlewoods Super Tanker and Candlewoods Tanks A Lot.
In the last twenty-five to thirty years there may be no individual that has
contributed more to the credibility and success of a breeding program/record
than Mary Howley.
In the very words of William F. Brown, written in his book 'Field Trials - History,
Management and Judging Standards', "Bill Brown outlined the criteria in the
simplest Terms .... the eligibility of persons, the recommendation is that the
distinction of nomination (to the BDHOF) be accorded only those who had for
a suitably long period of time rendered notable service to the field trial pastime".
That statement seems to clearly dignify Mary Howley's presence in the sport.

I IMO and from the bottom of my heart don't and will not disagree what you said is to be said......But what is your next action? Please.....Sleep on it. All of us who what to know....What to know.....
What about Candlewoods Something Royal? I agree totally, but don't know what action to take.
i agree with you 100 percent. Hall of Fame voting has closed to mail your votes. Now i guess it is up to the panel.
She is very much alive and still competing at 11+, dogs are not eligible until they are deceased. Her time will come but hopefully later not sooner.

Mary is on the ballot of five people of which two will be inducted. Ballots will be sent out in the very near future.
