The posts from the motor come through the board. Heat the solder that holds the board to the motor, then pry the board up. Then solder the wires to the motor posts. That should work for...

Make sure you dig them deep as Tim stated. Deeper ponds will obviously hold water in dry years. It also helps them stay clean, especially if your ponds are fed by run off as mine are.
