I would also inquire about an MRI/sonogram before the option of exploratory surgery, would hate to see the dog go through something it didn't really need, especially in his less than normal condition.
Also keep in mind the amps needed to "start up" the refridgerator compared to just keeping it running. I ran a similar set up to what you're describing with a large 6500w inverter in an enclosed MX...
I love the "side saddle" sitting position, my 9 week old Chessie does the same thing. GREAT looking pup !!
