Congrats on your litter. Sorry to hear of the loss of your boy. Dotty had her pups as well! This was on April 28th. Also 7 (six boys, one girl). Was 7 the final number for you?

So very sorry to hear of your loss. We lost our MH golden retriever similarly this past winter, and she was expecting her first litter of about 10 pups to boot. I came home to find her on the road,...
Oooh... how are things progressing today?
Our lab has hit day 58... I was reading a study on gestation, and of course average is 63 days. Labs are more likely than goldens to go about a day...
I agree with these posts. :-) I think with marking there is a combination of the right genes that occurs.
She's gorgeous! The pups will definitely get plenty of bird exposure, so hopefully we all get off to a good start. I'll have to let you know what it looks like what we get initially for crossing our...
What a great tribute this is to Vern.
Our deepest condolences to friends and family.
About 15 to 25% of her normal weight is pretty par. It depends on how large the litter is going to be, though. I have not weighed our lab, however have watched her food intake. We've gradually...
Thank you all for your suggestions. (And great photos of pups on point, I must add!)
I will do some more poking around on the APLA site too.

Is anyone familiar with testing labrador pups for pointing potential? We recently bred our female to a male with strong pointing ability. I really consider it the icing on the cake if we produce some...
So very sorry for the loss of your wife Melissa.
Wow, that's a bit of drama with a c-section -- poor vet tech. The pups are gorgeous. Glad all turned out okay in the end!
I think this is really good advice.
Another thing I'd like to add is not to start too soon. Pups still cutting teeth, just as an example.

I agree with that statement.
You local retriever group will probably have a great idea. I have been able to buy just what I need for a day in the past and freeze and re-use the heck out of them.
I was going to ask if you need a new battery or charge-up for the collar. :-)
My vote is for Ms. Black as well -- they are all beautiful!
We just learned by ultrasound that our golden is expecting a litter of "at least" 10 pups!
We are very excited, and it is so fun...
Awww --- absolutely precious! So glad everything turned out alright. Isn't that amazing how off an x-ray can be.
It is possible to test puppies for this to determine whether you have a clear. I know it is expensive ($85), but just a thought:

I will vouch for the migratiIon of the chip occurring. That happened in our male, where it is located along the shoulder instead now.
I microchip with the AKC Trovan chip on pups before they go...
I agree. You can try to do a toe pinch test to see what their sensitivity is as a pup. Personalities can be very different -- I have seen more aggressive females and timid males.
I like trying...
Wow!~
Amazing outcome!!!
How about a good food for pregnancy/nursing a litter? I'd like to ensure my female doesn't lose too much weight. She has a small frame.
Anyone have a good suggestion that I could gradually switch...
I think prcd/PRA genes are more common in goldens than what was originally thought.
Just don't let him freeze his balls off... literally. One of our friends had that happen to his curly coated lab out for a quick morning hunt, and this was from tromping around in grass. OUCH.
After dealing with Direcway for satellite internet access (I just love talking to customer service in another country -- NOT), we decided to go with Dish after having a taste of Direct...
The Dish...
It is just amazing how much wildlife comes out at dark. I woke up to a view of five pheasants right out our window this morning. Yup -- you know where hubby wanted to hunt at 9 bells!
We have had...
