I know it is not cheap but you can buy the dokken dummy that is goose size and keep working in water.....it is a lot easier retrieve in the water.:p

I used to live in fl and used him for both, Some dogs are not fond of picking up doves. Mind had no problem,,,something to do with the feather that would come out real easy!
