Here's hoping that Pedro is ok
A few days of rest may not be enough, may take much, much longer.
Has the dog been seen by an orthopedic specialist?
If it is a soft tissue injury, MRI imaging may be warranted.
Thanks Ted I've been recommending PetPlan to others as well. I stayed with PetsBest because they had a single incident limit of $14,000. I hope I never need a limit that high again (been there,...
I am a long time PetsBest customer and have been pleased with their coverage.
Unfortunately, PetsBest has switched carriers yet again. They have moved from Aetna to Independence American...
What are your qualifications to challenge the heartworm society?
That is one approach, but not the one I chose for my dog. Some surgeons see lots of LP cases and do tiebacks nearly every week, others do not. I wanted a surgeon that had performed the procedure...
Thanks Dr. Ed
I'm very sorry Vicky. I know it hurts like hell.
Terrible news. I'm very sorry.
Sorry you are having to learn about laryngeal paralysis... I recommend that you join this yahoo group and look at their database of experienced surgeons..organized by location ...
Hoping for the best for Grace (and you)
When Sinner was on Pro Plan with water she had tartar issues.
I've found that feeding Eukanuba dry (no water added) plus one C.E.T. dental chew every day eliminates tartar.
Yep, it takes what it takes. Glad it is working for your dog.
Sinner gets sub-q adequan injections every 3 weeks. I anticipate increasing the frequency. I do not want to wait for my dog to have a "bad day"...instead, I want to do my best to prevent them.
I remember Deb well and was impressed her her ability to overcome the large obstacles in her life. I'm sorry to learn she is gone.
Fosters and Smith appears to have it in stock.
Is it forelimb or rear?
Here are links to info on forelimb, iliopsoas, and vertebral injuries
Where does the dog live?
There is a well known LP surgeon in Malvern, PA with a high success rate (and low incidence of aspiration pneumonia) that I recall performs an alternative...
When Diesel had unilateral tieback surgery at the NC State Vet School in February 2010, I believe the procedure with no complications and a one night stay was a bit less than $1800.
There are a couple of yahoo groups that keep a database of recommended LP surgeons.
IMO the best of the groups is
Alternatively, there is also...
I'm confident that one way or the other, you will know what is going on with your dog and understand your options after consulting with Dr. Lee.
Here's hoping that the news is better than you fear.
I agree with Breck
Sorry to hear that. If it was my dog, I would be scheduling an appointment with an orthopedic vet sooner rather than later. On the other hand, I don't live in Victoria, British Columbia.
Carefully watch the first 3 steps after the dog has rested/slept/been crated for a few hours. Often the underlying lameness will be noticeable during those first few steps. After that, the dog...
