    Key is to keep the area dry so it can dry out. Not sure on how to prevent them. We get a dog in for grooming every once in awhile that has one. As long as it's not nasty meds aren't usually needed.

    Google The Mia Foundation or look them up on FB. They take in and raise cleft palate puppies (as well as other issues) and they might be able to put you in touch with a good vet. Good luck!
