Another option is a clear acrylic rod that you can get from most plastic stores in whatever diameter you want. For most sizes they are less than $5 for a 6 foot length. Cut to your desired length...

I go with the suggestion of using a different food. When my Chessy girls ate lamb based feed, they also could clear the room. Switched to chicken and nary a peep out of either of them.
