anyone know what is up with the results from Navajo Dam test? No results posted for Sunday, and Saturday results are there but with no results for junior dogs.

Mark, practice honoring with fliers being thrown and shot for the working dog and sitting close to the working dog. It will go a long way to confirming how steady he may be in a test environment.
No not me. Just wondering what some of the things people do to get themselves banned or suspended. Never been witness to something like that so just wondering what you've seen out there.
Agree completly. Coyotes aren't going to give you any issues.

no force??
I am to lazy to read through and see if this was brought up.. I say no such thing as no force. When you push your puppies butt down and say sit - that is force. When you tell him to...
General rule I have noticed (yes there will always be exceptions) - two handles at Senior level marks and don't expect to pass. At Master I don't know - yet...
"But why is anyone shooting while the dog is working?
Why not? If you trust yourself or a partner to judge a safe shot oppurtunity then the shot will not be passed up. Now it is a...
"Black bears aren't near the danger of grizzlies though.
Black Bear attacks on humans tend to be more predatoty in nature where as the brown bears are defensive as a general rule....
Nothing bad to say. I have the bigger one and it has seen some hard use but still no leaks and have even had my smaller dog sit in it to keep her dry in a few areas. Usually I throw about 12 to 18...
Thanks - ya I've been getting him in the water a lot as we are gradually cooling down, sleeping outside. All in an effort to acclimate to the coming winter and some extreme cold weather hunting....
My 2 yo is a lean 80 lb's. I think he'll be more comfortable sitting around in the blind if he puts on a little weight going into the winter months. Any feeding tips - supplements to the 30:20 stuff...
Beavers - no don't pay them much mind. Your more likely to have a dog injured by their pungee sticks sticking up though so I use caution around beaver ponds for that reason...
Have not used smartworks but sounds like you need to mark the pile with a tossed bumper and then start to work back -
not a huge big deal - reposition it for the dog to the center of bumper and repeat the hold command while tapping the bumper or buck on the ends. Eventually dog will out grow the cigar thing (for the...
Yes I know what you mean. I have only 1 dog and what I'll do is rotate say 4 birds on 4 marks using each only once in a session. Then back in the cage.
"Here is my question......describe if you don't mind how you are using these pigeons for training? Clip wings? Use and keep alive for later reuse? Kill/freeze/thaw use???
I clip them,...
Shorten everything up - shorter land to water, shorter swim shorter land and go from there
What the He!! 20 pages... Might as well keep the party goin till closin time!:):)
Man here I sit bored with my own thread...Hmm...And I thought it was a simple question....
Ya traps work, If you know how to trap...
Better solution is a predator proof place for your birds- coops and cages that birds want to go to at night where you can lock them up, swing a door shut...
Bottom line here that I am getting from this thread is that there is a culture of NO FLYERS at the majority of HRC tests and at AKC your probably going to get one even at started. WHY?? If it is...
Well that's what I'm thinking and could not agree more with that statement. Then there is the "flyers are unpredictable" statement. Well, wouldn't that simulate a hunting situation even more?????
So my original motivation for this thread was peaked after reading the thread about low attendance at HRC events this year. I have a hunch that given a choice of a flyer or no flyer many people would...
Ya that is a major difference and one I don't see the logic in - the more flyers at a test the better..even the missed - no bird flyers add fun and challenge to the dogs trying to honoer and all...
How come - or is it regional?? that AkC always uses flyers and HRC - at least around here does not use flyers at tests?? I know I brought this up in another thread but oh well...My dogs love flyers...
