coat length does depend on breeding... some lines carry more coat that others.
Goldens should NEVER be shaved down or given what some call a "puppy cut". Any breed with fur and not hair should...
everything I have ever read and been told is to feed 2x day and always soak the kibble in water never just feed dry... these things together help reduce the chance of bloat.
I have NEVER met a golden who bites in 20+ years as a dog owner and 14 as a trainer and groomer (except one who was from a petstore AKA puppymill and hardly looked like a golden at all so I guess was...
platinum is another term used... basically all these names are a way for puppymills and byb's to get much higher prices for what is just a GOLDEN RETRIEVER... red, orange, gold or cream its the same...
I'm Larah. I just moved from MA to NH this year and as my profile suggests I have Goldens. I have 6 currently and the ocassional litter of pups (from hip/elbow/heart/eye clear parents) most of my...
Go with the AI for sure. I had to do this for the first time this year but the stud I was using, while being experienced just could not get himself "Organized" and was getting himself exausted and my...
My dogs don't seem to get very cold but they also have thick coats. However they don't live outside. When I'm at work they are inside in the dog room in Dane size crates. When I'm home they are out...
not to late at all!!
first off will she follow you without the leash?
Does she like toys, bumpers, treats?
While there is a trend to believe that dogs are trying to dominate the world this...
here goes... everyone has a different method but you can read them all and use the one you want :)
Get your dog into a sit. Using a tiny treat hold it to his nose and then slowly bring it to the...
thanks for posting that!
Wow... oops big typo! what I was trying to say was the reason we do not see a lot of "fixed" dogs. I guess I am really in Monday mode today
very true and I do that also but people do stupid things and I want to make sure to protect my dogs :)
In regards to the number of trial dogs I have placed I am sad to say not as many as I would...
this is information I have been given by vets over the years and while I have never had them hand me the actual studies I feel confidant in my vet's education and knowledge. I however live with...
intact dogs have a much higher rate of cancer. I know many "fixed" dogs who are just as high drive as their intact counterparts... I say neuter if your not gonna breed but thats me. Another question...
Yikes! I can relate. A couple months back I was just out running dogs in the woods. Suddenly one dog let out a scream and ran back to me with one back leg held up. I saw there was a stick stuck...
for training your puppy you will need a flat buckle collar, a 6 foot leash, a 30 foot longline, some small bumpers the 2" kind and also some of the little puppy canvas ones if your pup is really...
thats good and so is a tick puller called "Ticked Off" its like a spoon with a slit in it that you hook under the tick and it just pops off!
I use sentry natural defense toppical and then also put on their spray before taking the dogs anywhere buggy. works great!
to make sure that they are not indiscriminately bred and that IF they are bred it is only after obtaining all of the health clearances needed for the breed... in the case of goldens that a minimum of...
Goldens are not hard headed or fearful... if you are seeing that in the line I would suggest finding another breeder as those are not normal or desired traits for the breed. Just on a side note most...
Haha! Thanks David :) that's my first proposal... LOL :D
by the way your lab is stunning!
in reference to earlier posts... this single chick hangs out at hunt tests and would love to see your dog run a tripple with a poison bird ;)
now on to my real point...
I never understood why...
honestly I do not think there is much difference between the males and females in goldens as far as training/working ability once fixed. Intact males are be more distracted and unspayed females can...
I would read the ingredients. There should be no corn, wheat or soy, no sugar, no meat and/or animal by-products. Real meat should be the first ingredient and if there is grain it should be brown...
