When I FF I avoid all distractions. Even if you feel the dog should do it anyway. Don't set him up for failure when you do FF, set him up for success.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. That is exactly how it works. Swing it open and the slide the bolt through. You can use any kind of pin though. Doesn't need to bolt in.

My dog's are outside 24/7 but I do not like barking. I didn't buy them to be watch dogs. I keep the bark collar in sight and the heeling stick close by as well. Seems to do pretty good.
I am assuming "no go" means you send the dog on "back" and doesn't leave the line.
I haven't been in the game long and I just ran a dog in the qual last weekend that had the same problem with the swivel head. The dog was not mine and he has obviously been lacking on certain drills...
