It worked well and it is very Milner-esque but I got it from a Bobby Wills online seminar (Lone Oak Retrievers East). If you're getting good responses from the rope and your dog clearly understands...
I had a little trouble on this as well. I was using Lardy which teaches the sit to pile similar to the way stawski does. However, I ended up teaching a good quick sit by rewarding the sit rather...
Definitely don't put EAR drops in yours or your dog's eyes either. I was at a friend's house and saw what I thought were eye drops, put a drop in my eye and then thought my eye was melting/going...
I don't think I would venture outside of the traditional duck dog breeds. A weim MIGHT be the the best duck dog ever but getting a lab, golden, chessie or boykin from a nice field breeding improves...
I shovel it into a big plastic bag and throw it out with the curbside trash too but I have been thinking a little more about the environmental impacts of our dogs. CBC (Canadian Brodcasting Corp.)...
I'm not trying to get in the middle of an argument but I do think a lot of very good potential buyers won't even look at a limited registration. I'm not a breeder but just looking at anecdotal...
It sounds to me like there is a hole somewhere in the FF. Fetching from the hand, transitioning to the ground, walking fetch should establish "fetch" as a command. Your best advice would be to get...
Could she have been bitten by an ant or spider on a sit? I would just relax and follow the advice already given. But a bite could be a reason that she displayed that fear as well.
I should add along with the Lardy materials, a subscription to Retrievers ONLINE are the two best investments I've made in retriever training. They go hand in hand.
I like lardy and find it easier to understand as a newbie. I also like the farmer aycok stuff.
Yep RookieTrainer, I thought this was a joke thread at first. Glad to see he's eating.
Here is a thread on the two legged dog Dex. http://www.retrievertraining.net/forums/showthread.php?58849-Dex-The-Two-Legged-Dog
I remember a video of a guys 2 legged dog getting his SH title. That's right, I said 2 legs. I'm sure some of you know the dog and owner.
Red Paw has worked weel for my working dog.

Thanks Mike
I've seen Tiger in a lot of pedigrees and he was apparently a heck of a sire and I would imagine a heck of a dog. Just curious as to why he never titled? Also curious as to the qualities that made...
Better to have a pup just a little skinny rather than fat or plump IMO. THere's a lot of studies out there that show feeding less decreases chances of things like hip dyplaysia etc. I obviously...
I think Hillmann is coming out with a marking DVD as well but it may not be ready for when your pup goes home. Lardy TRM is very good and I believe it would fit well with Hillmann.
That was great! Thanks for sharing.
Like Mary Lynn says, keep em on a leash/ supervised / in a crate. Basically as a pup you always want to set them up for success and limit the chance for failure which means picking stuff up that pup...
Oh and to your original question I would definitely pick up Jackie merten's puppy program and then you can flow into a full program. I would recommend lardy if I was goin to try hunt tests or field...
Well I guess you could take your chances and hope both dogs turn out. Or your other options would be to sell one or to keep them seperated like hillamnn talks about. I've never had two pups at the...
KyleC,
Not trying to be critical at all but just a heads up. I've always heard you should not have two pups at the same time. Here's Bill Hillmann on why. Scroll down to the 2-13-12 blog entry....
The movie versions of most dog stories ussually aren't very good but Where the Red Fern Grows is still one of my favorite books.
Oh, and it's Old Dan and Little Ann.
