I got a yellow pup from a breeder and did the list of dna testing. He came back with a chocolate gene. Neither parent carried chocolate. The breeder had to dna test three litters with parents to...
...and every whitetail I've shot was a 10 pointer!
PennHip requires the dog to be 16 weeks old. I usually do them around a year old.
I haven't seen radiation levels that high, the highest I've see was around 1000 mrem by the burning spent fuel area. But the math would be divide the dose rate by the square of the distance...
Let's have a little perspective.
The nukes dropped on Japan resulted in 100,000 contaminated surviors. Of that number, 500 will die prematurely for that exposure.
Of the 800,000 people effected...
Radiation decreases to the square of the distance, or twice the distance, gives one quarter the dose. Here is some perspective.
NRC allows 5000 mrem for occupational workers per year.
At...
copterdoc, you are assuming someone has determined this is not a pure bred. The only offical AKC document I have seen states they are considered purebred. The breed club has determined they are a...
Then to my way of thinking, they are not being registered correctly. AKC stated to register silvers as chocolates since they are. Logic would dictate that you would register charcoals as blacks...
The question was regarding silvers and a dilute black is not a silver. I haven't seen anything from AKC saying to register a dilute black as a chocolate. Do you have a reference?
This issue is settled. The parent club has decided that the dilute gene does not belong in labs. They will allow them to be registered but they do not and will not recognize the color.
I got to wonder if the pup will think you are growling? rrrrrrrr...
My Pirate put is Wyld Grizzly Pirate, call name Bear.
Okay, here's a hint...
This gets asked almost every week. There should be dozens of threads now with the answer. Welcome, and good luck with your education. You know in dog training, you have...
Tom, I was just addressing the "cookie on the carpet" issue. The individual found the comment insulting. I was just pointing out that to folks who play active games with the dogs, the continuous...
WALDMAN79, I've been to a fair number of dog shows and a fair number of field trials and hunt tests. If you watch the WKC clips of the labs, how many handlers have/use food? Most of them are...
So, you are saying the labrador retriever is bred to look pretty and prance around?
The Labrador Retriever was not developed to "look pretty" and "prance around". It is in the sporting group. It...
I'm not questioning the importance of structural soundness. Yes, I think the field dogs could improve, but I don't think the show dogs have it, unless you are suggesting they don't have problems?
...
In order for structure to have merit, it MUST contribute to function, at least in a sporting dog. I have been to the seminars, taken and watched video, drawn structure lines on photos, but I haven't...
Put 50 lbs on Miss Mississippi and see who gets the nod.
Thirty years ago, I bred and showed English Springer Spaniels. We had just got back from a show in Canada where I picked up a new black and white bitch. Being into shows, the term was used...
I was in the exact same place two years ago. My Scout is very active, hunts sea ducks in the fall, swims in the surf and does fine. Still the same lovable dog, but it did put a crimp in breeding...
I'm afraid I am one who has been convinced not to ask questions here. Much easier and less annoying to PM one of several here who will help, ask a vet or pull over and ask someone on the...
I just went through this with a stud who just wasn't getting it done. I finally went to the vet at day 15. We collected on day 15 and day 16. No viable sperm. Lack of sex drive. A vet can answer...
There are many, many titled labs that point. The titles are everything from FC and AFC to MH and others. A well trained retriever is a well trained retriever. I've never had any of my pointing...
I'd just hire the kid next door. He gets a few bucks, I don't have to do it!:D
