Of all weather conditions, heat would be my main concern. :) I have train and hunted the PAC/NW many years...on the wet side and east side and had no issues, but the heat is another story.:)
Are you training by yourself? If not, then have the bird boy or gunner help.

If you want to improve on memory, be the first one out to throw birds or bumpers in training. I am assuming this is training. What I have been taught years back....don't handle....let bird boy help...

It's good that you took that first step...Now....don't think about it anymore and just train your dog. Focus on that and you will do just find. :)

Years past, hens were used in Washington state. Don't know now. I use hens when teaching upland....Very little scent.

As do most guides, but people forget that it is hunting and nothing is guarantee. Stuff happens....:) Otherwise...I can just go to a butcher shop and order.:)

My mentor back then told me to learn and breath the basics before moving on.....Meaning doing lots and lots of singles and don't worry about the rest. The rest will come when you and dog are ready....
