Introduction to live birds. First in the yard then in your hunting area. You will also need to start casting drills as hunting situations call for dogs to fetch birds they might have not seen go down.
If it is because he is eating to fast you can just throw handfuls of the dry dog food on the patio so he only gets to eat a piece at a time instead of gobbling up mouthfuls. Might give it a try.
Archery Elk all of Sept, waterfowl oct to feburary with some chukar hunting thrown in there. Archery mulies in Nov after the snow flies.
I don't know if you guys are kidding or not! I'll pass the info on to my buddy though anyways :)
It's a girl by the way.
So the only real cure is to make sure your dog is in shape before season starts, I will tell my friend about this article.
Thank You.
My hunting buddy has a blf that this will be her 3rd hunting season this fall. Last year in the colder part of season (Dec/Jan) she would be good for one day and then we would have to wait 4 or 5...
She looks like a "Sassy" to me.

Thanks for the help Glen and BJ. I ordered the TRT video set and will heed you advice on throwing marks. That was already my plan , and will proceed after I recieve the DVD's
I think maybe you have got it right. She is burned out on the walkout blind and I have been doing it all by myself since I got her back from the trainer, therfore I haven't been doing any marks. Just...
Actually it is just a curiosity question as I don't question the ability of my trainer. My dog fetches anything I ask her to, she just doesn't do it with a lot of enthusiam.
Is FF something that...
How can you tell if your dog has been FF by the trainer like they were supposed to be, is there some sort of a test a person can do with their dog? Just curious.
On of Bill's suggestions is to mix up your training some to keep a higher level of interest. I would think this falls right into that catagory.
I was in your exact same boat and after all my research yesterday I pulled the trigger on 2 zinger winger II's with Tritronics Remote but I think either would be good. I think you are in a chevy vs...
I had to scratch on running in a test because of season not to long ago. The weekend before she failed to pass on her two tests whick was totally unlike her as she aced two tests two weeks before...
Not to hijack thread but I experience something similar yet different.
My pup is a year old and spent 8 months with a pro trainer. When we throw "fun" bumpers she is a little fireball but as...
Consider what your going to do with this pup and the geography that she will be spending the most time in. Hot climate areas are harder on black dogs and if your going to duck hunt your dog, fall and...
Thanks for all the help guys. I have decided to pass on running her until next spring. I will continue her training and she will have her first hunting season this fall. By next spring I hope to be...
Good question. I would think that if you choose to support the club and pay the entry fee, there would be no problem. It is experience that I have a hard time duplicating in a training session.
Thanks for all the feedback. The reason I posted this thread is exactly what most of you have said, uncertainty about any benefit. Back of my mind sensed possibility of more harm than good.

I am considering running my 1 year old that has just gotten her JH title in an couple upcoming events this next month. My question is should I just run her as junior as a positive test or run her in...
Just got mine back from the trainer yesterday (after 8 months). Spent the last few days just getting re-aquainted. I was amazed at the things she remembered. There was alot she forgot too :)
If you have another dog that swims well you can use that dog to your benefit. Start out by going swimming yourself and call the swimmer out to you. When the one dog is out there, get real excited...
New guy here as well and have to say J.Q , I thought I was a one of a kind but you proved me wrong.
I also have a 3 YEAR OLD FRENCH BRITTANY and my 11 month old NSDTR will finish her last two hunt...
