Been through ALOT.........
Finally a food that had her doing much better as long as we stayed on top of her bumps she always gets with a spray with chlorhexidine.
We had her on royal canine prescription rabbit and potatoe and finally things seemed controllable.
Anyhow royal canine just discontinued.
Has anyone ever tried Natural Balance limited ingredient diet, rabbit and potato? Hate to switch at this point but I have no choice. Is NB a decent quality food?

Thanks for any input from someone who has tried this food.

I haven't tried that food, but Nature's Variety Instinct also has a rabbit formula. They have two versions, one is a limited ingredient one. Petco sells it.

Anyway, another choice.

I haven't fed a lot of it to my dogs, but my cats have been on it for a couple three years, if that helps. One cat was on death's door with some mystery GI illness, and she is now thriving.

That is very familiar. At one point quit eating, drinking and could not go to the bathroom. Finally had a bowel movement that was all blood. Spent two nights at specialist and they could not figure it out but her intestines were very swollen. Had a follow up ultrasound a few weeks later and everything was so much better that they still can't say exactly what caused it.

Natural Balance is a great food. My boss feeds it to her clan since her one Weim has bad ears on beef and chicken. Hasn't had any problems. Her husband bought the wrong bag one time while she was out of town and her ears flared up bad. Put the back on the right stuff and they cleared right up.

Now I cannot say there is any validity to this, but I've recently heard of giving 2tbl apple cider vinegar with food 2x day helps with skin infections, bacterial (staph) and fungal. It's cheap and worth a try for staph. No experience with the food though.

Hills D/D Venison and Potato is a vet skin enhancemt food that my Rowdy is eating. I tried the same formula in Nat Choice and it didn't work

I just went to a Royal Canine meeting the other day. They still list the hypoallergenic select proteins (Rabbit, Duck, venison, whitefish) in their book. They also have a new hypoallergenic hydrolyze formula, in which they've broke down all the proteins to their base elements so the pet immune system cannot recognize them that looks interesting. The speaker was one of R.C nutritionists, If I can find her card, I'll pm it to yah, she probably could tell yah another comparable food to try.
