Depends on whether you are buying or breeding.
If you are buying, then it is not a problem as long as the breeder knows genetics and the dogs in question. If not, then "what Bridget said".
If you are breeding, then either make genetics "your bag" or find someone who is great with it for a mentor so that you can run these things by with them, or you can see if this particular dog already shows up in pedigrees in this fashion. If it is "famous" enough, such as with Lean Mac or Webshires Honest Abe as an example, there will be a number of combinations of father/grandfather/great-grandfather, etc.. in a quite a few pedigrees. You can then use these to research health, talent, training ability, looks, temperament, etc...with the offspring that has been produced by these combinations. Call the owners of said dogs for honest opinions on the temperaments.
If "not so famous" maybe there are similar breedings out there using cousins or siblings. The information will obviously not be as accurate, but it will be better than a shot in the dark.
    Hope this helps!
