    Default New from Ontario

Hi all I am new to the forum! I'm sure I am a bit of an odd ball here... I have an 8 month old English cocker named Jake. He is my first gun dog and there are no spaniel folks in my area but have been lucky enough to have found an amazing mentor who is a member on this board (krakadawn) to help guide me in my efforts to make a hunting (and perhaps trial/test) dog out of him! Glad to be here and I'm sure I will learn a ton.

Glad you found this forum. I am sure you and your pup will do great. Looks like he is retrieving based on the picture. Are you going to teach him to do blinds? I am only asking because I watched a Cocker in the UK do a 50 yd blind in a training session and it was awesome to watch.
What if all we have today is what we gave thanks for yesterday?

Had an old friend who had/ has cockers for hunting. When you could actually see them through the weeds as they hunted, it was cool to watch and they did a great job.

You bet he'll be doing blinds. I want to train him to as high of a standard as I can.

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

There are things you just can't fix. Can't fix stupid, can't fix a neutered dog & you can't fix junk!

Great! Nothing like taking a dog to its full potential.
