Default controlled blinds > cold blinds

When transitioning from controlled blinds to cold blinds at what point in controlled blinds do you know it is time for cold blinds? What indicators do you look for that you have built the level of confidence to move on to cold blinds?

80+ percent adherence to stop/go/come and taking casts.

    What's a controlled blind?

Aren't dogs supposed to be under control on all blinds?

You really gotta be careful about how high a pedestal you put your method, your accomplishments, your dog on. There's usually someone who's done more, somewhere. And they may have used a different method than you did! Chris Atkinson 2013

Yeah, the phrase, "cold blind," doesn't make a lot of sense to me, or is redundant at the very least. The word blind describing a retrieve automatically means control.

Controlled blind is baseball, Single T, Double T. All casting training leading up to cold blinds. In our training group we use the terminology controlled blind when visuals are used (white 5 gallon buckets) to help the dog gain confidence.

It is far easier to spit on the work of others than it is to produce something better yourself.

Can't answer the question. I don't use visual markers to mark the piles in pile work.
