    Default Just Wondering????

How many grasshoppers a Lab can eat in one day? Two of ours will chase and eat them all day long while the other two totally ignore them. One thing is certain, they can't eat them all. I've never seen so many.

Now why did you have to challenge them like that?

And I've seen the size of your Texas hopper - it's huge!! Surely a few dozen of those would be a complete meal!! So much crunchy goodness . . .

Yes!!!! There every where and taking out all the yard plants with them. My pup pounces on them then torchers them by flinging them around for awhile, then finishes them off. Good entertainment at night drinking a cold one on the poarch.

Ha! I went with a friend to another freinds to pick out a pup and you needed glasses to get through the hoppers.
He said the pup threw up twice on the way home and it was all grass hoppers. So I dont know, maybe a thousand?
I cant wait to see what happens when one of mine catches that Lizzard she been hunting for a year or more

With our recent move further into the country my lab has become a grasshopper killing machine.... drives me crazy but I just laugh!

Not many grasshoppers here but earlier this summer we had the plague of the 17 yr. cicadas (Ugggggh!) They were everywhere, thick layers of them under trees, etc. and the dogs chowed down like they were the finest kibble. Not even going to try to describe cicada gas.... Several of the greediest got chubby on all the snacking. I even asked my vet if eating so many would be harmful and he said no since insects are largely protein. May be TMI but their poop looked like mostly shiny insect legs....nasty!
