Default Another great use for a GoPro cam

I've seen a lot of fun videos of cameras mounted on dogs retrieving, etc. and they're pretty entertaining. However, I've stumbled onto a way to educate the human component of the team using one (if somebody has already done this, my apologies ).

I have a client just learning to handle on blinds, and he's struggling. I came up with this to help him see what his dog sees when he is handling. And I'm thinking I'll use this myself as well at some point, just to get the perspective, and I know I'll learn something every time. I mounted the camera on the dog, and while it does make me a little dizzy to watch when the dog spins around on the whistle sit it also gives a really cool perspective of what the dog sees when you handle. Everything from what you look like against the background to how your movements are seen by the dog to how the cover and terrain changes things...and it looks a lot different than I thought it would.

Unfortunately, I can't share the video...client is a little shy about going public. But I'm thinking it's worth a try, and will report back as time permits.

I will expect to see you in a video by weeks end.
I just can't pull the trigger, because soon as I do they'll come out with a newer model with stabilization mode.
Maybe Santa will bring me one this year.

It's been helpful for me too. Been doing it for a while. Haven't perfected the GoPro version yet.

Blair witch project stuff with those go-pro's...I see the educational value for sure. I have zero enjoyment watching a go-pro video. Won't even open them up. Shaking and bouncing all over. The one Go-Pro video I did enjoy and watch in it's entirety was one which a fella put his Go-Pro camera on a crab pot in time lapse. It was neat watching all the sea life come and go, crabs inspect the pot and come in, some inspect it and leave etc.

Sharon, Why not have the client step aside and handle so we can all see whatcha mean?

Trust me Sharon, I think you will like the results much better than someone filming from BEHIND you for an entire blind. Yeah, you can see what you are doing as a handler in that view, but all the viewers see is your butt! Not fair at all I tell ya. I think I'll strap a camera on Indy's head and see if I can keep from becoming air sick when I view it! I do like the idea of the camera view from the dog's head. But isn't it going to mess with their minds, carrying that thing? Mine won't even wear a hat.
