Default Why Obama can not afford to lose this fight.

Early reports are that about half of the republicans are going to revolt from Boehner this weekend. The loss from the republican gambit will only be a few billion dollars. Even if that doesn't happen Obama can not afford to give in even a centimeter on this issue. Like I said above these Shenanigans are only going to cost us few billion most likely. There is the larger debt ceiling fight that is only about two weeks away. Any sign of weakness from Obama will lead to even crazier and more extreme demands during that fight. The consequences of the debt ceiling not being raised has the potential to have lasting effects that will go on for years and could easily top a trillion dollars of extra interest payments and even slow lending to this country causing a cash crunch. I don't expect that our congressional leaders have the intelligence to see the problems that could come from what I expect to be their actions on that bill. I only say that because there was debate originally to pass the clean CR and have this stand off on that fight. Any give right now to republicans will only encourage them to be even more bold on the 17th.

I think your assessment is pretty well on the mark.

I disagree, but more importantly, regardless how much Obama caves to the Republicans, we will never hear it! The media is in his pocket, and they have covered his bacside on every lie and stupid action he has taken.....can we talk Syria? He caved in like a falling tree....the man has no backbone and cannot talk without being dishonest.....
