    Default When the Shutdown Ends

Should all the folks who were furloughed be paid for the time they were on furlough? Would you be paid if you were an employee in the private sector?

Nope, would not happen in the private sector. Another q, a lot have applied for unemployment. Are they going to get double paid?

Let me add that those who are essential and working need to be paid for hours worked.

As I understand it Federal Workers are under contract. This is a labor union! The contract prohibits them from not being paid, even during a shutdown...I worked with a Teamsters Union and they were guaranteed 24 months of full pay and benefits if for any reason they were let go...except if they went on strike, they had a separate fund for that. All they would lose is overtime...

The House voted unanimously to give federal workers on furlough back pay when they return.

Private sector would have agreed to pay its bills and not shut down in the first place, so it is an apples to oranges comparison.

I'm asking myself if small questions like this will even matter in a month. I just got done listening to Boehner on "This Week." Based on what he just said, I am debating contacting my brokers and giving them a list of stocks I want dumped first thing Monday morning.

If you are making your investment decisions by listening to John Boehner, maybe you should just let your brokers do their job and stay out of it.

You have too much faith in brokers. Before the 2008/2009 meltdown I had put a lot into cash. I was told that I was missing a great run in the market. Long story short, I made a enough on that cash I was holding to cover several years of retirement.
