    Default Newbie Finish

Just ran my dog in Memphis Amateur Retriever Club field trial. It is the first time I have ever handled a dog in a field trial or hunt test. Needless to say, I am hooked. We finished with a RJ. My friend, mentor, and trainer Bryan Manning has gotten my dog QAA at 20 months and me through my first trial at 21 months. I have learned over the last two years what it takes to get this far with a dog. This game has a lot of thankless nights but on a night like this I am looking back at all that I have learned and how little I know. I don't post on here much but wanted to thank Bryan and brag in a forum where people know what it took. I started on RTF by finding the litter on here and have been creeping around for 2 years. I guess it is now appropriate to ask a newbie question for you guys to slam me. Is it to early to dream of an AFC tile?

    Now...go do it again!

To answer your question...yes. It is too soon.
    But, go for it!

Congrats and good luck! I dream of FC/AFC all the time (it's shameful but I dream of NFC/NAFC too lol), even though I might not have a chance at any of it. It's why we do it, isn't it? You have a good looking dog there. What is his pedigree?
    God bless!- Jamee

Congratulations! AFC & FC are possible but usually 4+ yrs of dedicated training , some luck & a good dog. Looks like you have what it takes.
Keep it up! You definitely will have the best dog in the marsh that your buddies will be envious of and you will have many enjoyable days afield.
