Default AKC pedigree papers and foreign fonts

I'd like to name my dog with something from the Gaelic. Their fonts include lots of weird vowels with accents and stuff on top. How does the AKC deal with this? Surely I'm not the first person to want to use another language.

The problem you'll have is not everyone will be able to display the characters. Entry Express might not be able to print the catalogs and the AKC might not be able to print the pedigree. It just depends on whether the display or printer fonts contain the characters. Courier New, Arial, and Lucida have large character sets, so you could get lucky.

I had one that somehow got weird characters in the copy and pasting process. It printed that way from AKC but they corrected it no problem. It was the easiest AKC had ever been to work with.

I'd be surprised if you are allowed to use non-English characters. That would be a nightmare to deal with.

Straight from the AKC website "All letters in a dog's name are limited to the standard English alphabet. Diacritical markings (accent grave, accent acute, umlaut, etc.) are not printed on Registration Certificates in a dog's name. When Registration Certificates are printed, all letters are capitalized"
