Default Ask the RTF: ATV tie downs

Has anyone used one of these on a trailer to help secure an ATV/UTV?

    http://www.laguarddog.com/content.asp?CatId=222

If so, are they secure? Pros/Cons?

Do they really eliminate the need for straps???

    Thanks!

PITA. Stick with straps and cable lock if worried about security.

Yes I used one of those tie downs. Called Louisiana Trailer Dog or something. Worked great. I cut the vertical section shorter to work better with my Honda rancher.
Much quicker than messing with ratchet straps and is secure for driving where ever. You could drill for lock also if you wanted I guess.
I had a drop basket on my ATV so it was a minor pain reaching under to secure hitch.
They do rust over time so keep oiled once in a while.

I investigated this and saw that there was no side to side adjustment to facilitate the lockdown if the bike was not directly in line with the hitch. I ended up building an aluminum trailer to fit the Ranger with no need for tiedowns.

I've had one for two years. I like it MUCH better than using tie downs. It is quick and secure
