Just want to thank everyone for a lot of very helpful information!!! I made copious notes. A lot of work to do in 6 months.

Train on triples with one retired, work on all age land and water blinds, pray they don't have a poison bird, or worse yet a dry pop, and expect to run near the old flyer station. If your dog does all that pretty well in training enter a Qual and see what happens.

I have generally been taught to train for the open/am and run the minors along the way when you felt the dog was ready.

No argument here, but I will point out that if you have a good HT dog and do a little work, mostly stretching them out and tighten up your blinds, you can do very well in a Q. The OHQ is becoming more popular at HTs around here but if they are not where you are, go ahead and give it a Q a try even at a FT. It is the most fun of all the FT stakes.
