I know blue-green algae is highly toxic, but is regular green algae toxic? I've never hunted smaller ponds, but the land I have permission to hunt has a lot of smaller ponds that attract a lot of ducks! There is a lot of algae in them though and I don't want my other dog to get sick(already have one sick). In MN right now the high temps are in the high 40's low 50's. Tomorrow it might snow! Please advise
I dont believe so- the main sign of blue green algae is what looks like an oil slick on the top of the water, with a blueish tint.
I get a lot of regular algae in my creek and its always been fine.
Not official by any means-
Google Toxic Algae. You will find lots of pictures that show you what to beware of. But what I have seen looks like described above, an oil slick that you can only see individual fibers by very close inspection. Most of the weedy, leafy stuff is harmless.
I think that all the stuff that is basically plants so the grassy/weedy looking stuff is fine
