Nothing to do. Just check her over for any other ticks.

if there was a tick on your dog then I would be checking to see if there are any ticks on YOU...especially if you are in an area prone to Lyme disease

If it was large and engorged, it was probably a brown dog tick which does not carry Lyme. No need to take your dog to the veterinarian. Ticks are making their last push for the season--pulled three of one of my girls yesterday.

Right behind "Why is there evil in the world" and "Why do bad things happen to good people" is "Why did God make ticks."

And yes, I know Guinea fowl find them delicious; that's not enough reason.

A fully engorged deer tick could very well be the size of a small q-tip. These things stretch out like little balloons If you are in an area that has deer ticks. When you have your annual heartworm check ask for the test that checks for tick born diseases as well as heartworm. Weve been getting up to 10 or 12 deer ticks every time we go to our property in south west wis. For that reason I will do my snap-tests in dec rather than april.
