    Default GDG Dyson GDG

    Might save you some money.

We recently had new carpeting put in MBR. It is a Shaw product that is a little more plush than we had before. We were also due for a new vaccume and got a Dyson DC41.

The Dyson vaccume works great on the hardwoon and tile, but just gets stuck in the carpet. Won't push forward at all. Seems to be too much suction. Checking both Shaw and Mowhawk websites they don't have Dyson on their list of recommended vaccumes. Calling Shaw resulted in them telling me Dyson had so much suction that it would ultimately damage the carpet. Called Dyson and they said their product works best on Berber or very low cut pile and agreed it would damage a more plush carpet.

Of course we can take the new Dyson back and get our money, but who would think you need to check what type of vaccume you need before you buy new carpet.

I was told that some carpet warranties were null and void if you used a Dyson. I have one that is 7 yrs old or so now, and did have to recarpet my family room last year, but w/ a shorter carpet, so I'm not terribly worried. I find my dogs' nylabones are harder on that new carpet however-- pulling some of the loops up.

Oh oh I love my Dyson on my berber. But I'm going to gave to replace that carpet soon as my pup has taken the liberty of pulling up some snags. Thanks for the heads up. I want to keep my Dyson so will look for a carpet that will be okay with its suction.

Only works on hard wood floors and tile.
