some horse people get this... that opens up a whole other can of worms, like the morons that talk about their '15.6 gilded philly'

I agree, it drives me crazy too, sort of like people talking about their golden Lab.

Hahahahaha, gilded phillys and golden labs. Interesting because I hear it all the time, from trainers no less.

Thanks to everyone who gets it right; it's also one of my pet peeves. And it's not just from the gilded philly and golden Lab crowd, either; a lot of people who should know better use "out of" incorrectly when discussing their retriever's sire.

Around here it is "My dog is part black lab and part chocolate lab". They actually think that yellow (we get "golden" here too), black, and chocolate labs are different breeds.

Oh, boy, my pet peeve. People say they have a poodle or a cocker spaniel or a whatever. But no one ever says they have a lab. They always have a "black lab" or a "chocolate lab" or a "yellow lab." (or a silver lab, but that's another thread.) Why the he!! is that? Why does a person with a poodle never have a "cream poodle" while a person with a lab never has a (color-unspecified) "lab"?
