No disdain at all for those who put themselves in harms way for others. The disdain is for those who will use tragedy for political gain. The same way I feel about those who pretended the ultimate respect for the country's first responders right after 9-11, only to later treat them as leaches on society because of their $30,000/year pensions.

Don't think that didn't cross my mind as I typed it...

As someone who lost friends that were FDNY that day your comments are insulting. I grew up with 3 that lost their lives running in. We were volunteer EMS (fire/emt) together when we turned 18. You do not know them, I did!

I grew up going to funerals of firefighters that died in fires and consoled & cried with their kids, my friends. I know guys who have had several surgeries on knees, shoulders, necks, etc. They can hardly get out of bed in the morning, and they are about to lose their pensions. And when I read comment sections to newspaper articles, I see conservatives who rejoice and high five over their misfortune. Damn those union bass turds. So, if you want to feel insulted, then you know exactly how I feel.

I have always said due to the nature of their job the risks, and additional need for protection against bs lawsuits etc, Firefighters and Police need a union to protect from the liberal idiots! They are not the clowns toking it up on the car assembly line etc.
I see liberals throwing fits everytime a police officer defends themselves or the public and """ mr soon to be honor roll clown"got what he deserved.

And maybe they have found the witch? And her name is Hillary.

Sorry, Buzz, I couldn't resist that one.

Hillary's whole career has been rife with slime. From being fired from a Congressional Committee, to White Water, to her "windfall" on the commodities market, to the suspicions surrounding Vince Foster's alleged suicide. She was obviously complicit in the false talking points, going so far as to tell parents of the dead from Benghazi that they would see that the person who made the video would be brought to justice. There is no denying that.

I just came across this in an article about the release of a certain late Congressman's interview with Ubben (one of the Benghazi survivors)
An August 16 classified cable, reviewed and reported on by Fox News last fall, showed there was an emergency meeting in Benghazi less than a month before the attack due to rapidly deteriorating security. The cable warned the office of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and other State Department leaders in Washington, that the consulate could not sustain a coordinated assault.
So Hillary knew of the dangerous and unstable situation in Benghazi, yet she allowed, or directed, those people to go into harm's way, without sufficient protection, while calling Stevens a "friend" after he was dead.

She can, and will, lie to further her own agenda and career.

POTUS orders were supposedly, "do everything we can to" protect the people in Benghazi ... but I guess that approval to cross that airspace requires something more "formal"?
A military order can be given written or verbally they hold the same weight. I don't believe troops sent in from Italy would have been the answer at all. They needed security forces that were stationed at the consulate. It was woefully undermanned and the battle was lost before it was started.

All the stuff about air space is crap. Attacking a consulate is the same as attacking downtown main street. A General who wouldn't commit troops should not be in the position. The head of AFRICOM should have been able to make that decision on his own. I believe he felt that it was better to evacuate than go in with what really amounted to about a squad of operators who were ready to go.
