Default Rowdy (by Pirate) Struggling with initial line

Rowdy has been stuggling with his initial line on blinds. He wants to drift to the right all the time. This is a 300 yd cold blind. I think I have been trying to do too much in this one field and it has created confusion. It is one of the few fields that I have where I can get significant distances. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

There is a strong crosswind, right to left. So it is more surprising that he didn't drift witht he wind to the left.

What is that big ole white thing in the gap between trees? Looks sort of like that is pulling him over. If I had a field like that I would use it for school blinds. What's the saying, train for momentum and precision will come? Maybe applicable here?

Carol, That is the top of a well house in the next field over (across the ranch entrance road).

My lab starts to bow at 60-80 yards on cold blinds
Very frustrating I stop and correct he will bow then come
Back on line I am sure its my fault as most issues I have had with him
I went back pb and no no drills but he still doesnt it

Are you sure you have him lined up correctly? If he keeps leaving too far to the right, maybe you are thinking he is looking one place, but he is really looking another. My dog has a little right eye dominance and kinda cocks her head to lead with her right eye...maybe something like that going on with Rowdy?

He looks great, he takes your casts nicely.

I personally keep getting asked," where are you Gooser on your count of running 1000 Qual level blinds?"

I had a horrible day yesterday.. Had great initial lines,, but No sit,, Horrible casts,, ran away over the hill,, couldnt see her,,had to catch a lift on a Quad to go find her,, when I finally did,, she ran right back to the bumper blind pile,, picked up a bumper,, and ran back to the mat and sat down and waited fer me to get my fat arse back up the hill to take the bumper outa her mouth!! FRICK!!!

I gotta LOT a work to do..

    I Like Rowdy!!

    Just keep running blinds IMHO..

I got some good advice via a facebook post from someone I respect. So this morning I did some remedial work:

Two circuits of 16 bumper wagon wheel. First circuit the orange bumpers (outer ring) were at about 20 yds. Second circuit the orange bumpers were at about 40 yds. Emphasis was on keeping Rowdy square to me when taking the correct initial line.

Three cold land blinds but at shorter distances (100-150 yds) with emphasis on:
    1. Keeping Rowdy square with me before sending
    2. Being careful about the degree of angle on my angle back casts

Two cold water blinds across inlets at angles with emphasis on
    1. Being square with me before sending
    2. Calling back if he didn't take the correct initial line and tried to square the water entry

    One cold channel blind
    1. Same emphasis being square
    2. Staying in center of channel on the way out
    3. Avoiding either bank on the way back.

I was pleased with the way things went this morning. I appreciate the advice I rec'd and I think we are on our way.
