I lost my very first Chesapeake Bay Retriever last Friday. Caslpeke Magnum Reload AKC Senior Hunter "Reload" Reload he was a great dog and taught me a lot about dog training and Chesapeakes in general. There were times when I really wanted to shoot that dog some days but I loved him dearly. He was without a doubt the most loving Chesapeake I've ever met. He never met a stranger but he didn't like to listen to anyone but me. He was by no means a master hunter by AKC standards and he certainly wasn't gonna win any opens. But he was the only dog I've ever met that was capable of running down a crippled tundra swan and carrying it back three to four hundred yards! Reload meet many of my hunting buddies and made many memories a field and training. Not all were the best at the time but we still have a good laugh at the things that dog did! I can remember this dog breaking sixty yards of ice to pick up blue bills on a cold winter shoot. He will certainly be missed. But I think that the best thing Reload ever did was just be my buddy and keeping the boogie man at bay for my boys when they were little.
He always had a knack for giving you that I'm a poor dog look!
He loved giving hugs to our dearly departed golden Molly and my oldest boy when he was little.
He was sure proud of himself on this day. He made some nice retrieves on tundra swans.
