Default Guffy’s Story, or more on RTF history week.

Guffy’s Story, or more on RTF history week.

Dave Wolfe emailed me this and asked me to start a thread. It is / was in a file that he could not get onto RTF. I also was unable to cut the text out of it so in frustration I simply printed out and copied back in the pages. I know, I know, there had to be a better way but I was furmungled by it. So anyway here is a very cool and inspiring tail of a black lab named Guffy. Enjoy, and like the last time not the best for the telephone RTFers. Go full screen once you are at work.

Their was a great story in D U magazine about 15 or 20 yrs about a dog
named mcGuffy. The dog and his owner were in a wreck, both were hurt.
Vet wanted to put dog down. owner didn't. Dog won a national
championship a year later. Is this story published any where or would DU republish this story

I was able to locate the article you were talking about. It was
published in our November/December 1994 issue and is a great story.
Would you like me to email you a copy of the article or would you like
to purchase the issue? The cost is $3.00 per issue plus shipping for a
total of $5.50. Thanks for your interest in Ducks Unlimited. Your support is greatly appreciated.Regards,Brenda SospenziCommunications and Magazine*Brenda, Thanks so much for taking time to find this story. It would be great if you would just email it to me.
    Thanks again David Wolfe

    Hi Ken
I read a story when I was in high school in the 80s. This story really inspired me, but I didn't know if it was true. later on in life I seen there was a dog what won the nationals by the name of Mcguffy. I contacted D.U. and they sent me the story. I to love the history of this sport and where come from. Your post made think about this story, I don't know how to post it, if you could I would appreciate it on my behalf.
Also I hope everything is going well and your weather has turn off to cold.
    Thanks David Wolfe

McGuffy was a phenomenal dog, got to watch him up close on more than one occasion, I always thought he was the one of the BEST of the NAFC FC Ray's Rascal progeny

Yes because the accident happened a couple of years before he won the National, in fact Clint told me to go watch him run when he was on the west coast, because we had a retired Ray's Rascal dog too, and he had run a trial against TJ/Guffy before he went away to med school and was very impressed with him. I remember writing TJ after he won the National and inviting him to train when I moved to Texas, but he never made it south...

Yep- even after all these years he can hardly get through it without leaking a bit. Very special man and a very special dog. He will be back with another contender.

    Cool story regards

Train with TJ a lot. He hates it when I tell him he peaked early. My uncle always said every man gets that one special dog of a lifetime. Not sure if its best to get that young or old.
