I agree but the people who could fix this are the same people who vote raises for themselves.

It will be interesting to see if the Democratic party will treat him with the same contempt Bush received by his party when he left office. Will anyone want him campaigning for them, or is he demoted to leper like status like his predecessor?

I can actually only take credit for the last line. The rest I pirated from the internet, though I truly do believe in and agree with those 7 points

This woul dbe a tremendous step in the correct direction. We also need to figure out how to get the american people to look to themselves and not the government.

Great list but I would add #8. One yearly session of Congress of 90 days only. Congressmen and Senators are TEMPORARY employees. No vacation, sick leave or those things you have already mentioned.

Now for lobbyists. The lobbyists did not create the Government. THE GOVERNMENT CREATED THE LOBBYISTS!! Eliminate the Dept. of Education, Commerce, EEOC, NLRB, Agriculture, and AEC just to name a few. Cut State, DHS in half. Get out of UN. I guarantee you the number of lobbyists would be cut by 95%. Oh yes cut Defense in half and you probably get the last 5%

You do that then tell me what lobbyists there will be left.
