This is my little 4 yr. old Chesapeake, Tanzy. Last wk., she suddenly became paralyzed and was diagnosed with 2 ruptured vertebrae in her neck, requiring emergency surgery by a neurosurgeon specialist. She's still paralyzed, but has been making baby steps of progress from not being able to lift her head or wag her tail 4 days after the surgery to lifting her head, wagging her tail happily and rolling onto her sternum. These were taken a week after her surgery, at the start of her rehab. It's pretty pitiful, but we are grateful for every baby step she takes on the underwater treadmill and every time she bears a little weight on her limbs on the yoga ball that along with lazer therapy, is part of her long, slow rehab.process. She is still heavily drugged (note her dilated eyes in close up). You can see the scar from her surgery in the yoga ball photo. It's been heart breaking and I'm still questioning if spending all this money with no guarantee she'll be able to live even a semi normal life, was the right thing to do but she tries so hard and has been so stoic.
