just a testament to this combo (i have exact same setup) this weekend it was 33* had my 70lb CLM in the back of the truck in his kennel and kennel cover. stuck a thermometer in there to see what kind of temp he felt with it zipped completely up. 68* difference of 35*

i could stick some hay in there and i'm sure i'd get that temp up higher but a) i'm sure he'd eat it and b) the kennel comes inside when we arent traveling and the wife wouldnt appreciate hay all over the house

I also have a Mud River cover but I would never zip it all the way up. It would get too hot in there.

thats why i tested it so that i would know if it would be too hot or not. i'd say 68* isnt too hot for the middle of winter. we werent hunting or anything just traveling from house to house on interstate

if we had just got done in the field i'm sure it would of been a scorcher in there

This is directly from Mud River -

"We do not have a suggested minimum and maximum temperature range for the kennel covers. The kennel covers will keep the inside of the crate 20-40 degrees warmer than the outside air temperature. Depending on the size of dog, working/ resting, windows on / off, door up or down effects the temp inside the crate.

Additionally , we tell people the following:

    - NEVER HAVE THE WHOLE COVER SHUT UP - we always recommend ( even in cold weather) to leave part of the front door unzipped) for ventilation.

    - Down in the South in the Summer - you do not USE a kennel cover. there are people in MN who use them year round - with door rolled up and windows off. It really just depends on where you live and the climate, heat, humidity, etc.

    - We do not like giving a specific range, as it is dependant on the dog, the dog's status (working/resting) and the immediate weather conditions. There really is no minimum obviously it is never too cold to use the cover, but as far as heat, the dog and humidity, the do not suggest using the cover anywhere when the weather is above 60."

    Hope this helps!
